About Me: Artisan Ceramic Tiles in Longmont, CO
I've always known that I wanted to be an artist. From a young age, I was surrounded by people who believed in creativity—supportive art teachers who encouraged exploration and parents who nurtured my passion without hesitation. That kind of foundation gave me the freedom to pursue my path, even if it took a little longer to get there.
My journey wasn't exactly traditional. Before earning my degree, I spent years seeking out hands-on experiences and learning opportunities that felt more like apprenticeships than classrooms. Eventually, I graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Studio Art, and today, I'm happy to work full-time as an artist creating artisan ceramic tiles in Longmont, CO. I also volunteer at a local nonprofit art center, where I stay connected to my community and help others explore their creativity through ceramic art.
Why I Fell in Love with Handmade Tiles
Working with handmade relief tiles brings together everything I enjoy about art—drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and even photography. The tile-making process touches on all of these disciplines, and that blend is what keeps me coming back to the studio with happiness.
I design and press each tile by hand, using plaster molds I create myself, and while the designs may repeat, every tile is one of a kind. Clay has a life of its own, and once it goes into the kiln the process becomes even more unpredictable. The kiln and the clay don’t always produce something traditionally “beautiful” — there can be rough edges, unexpected marks, or imperfections. But that’s part of what makes ceramics challenging and interesting to me.
My Mission and Values
My mission is to create meaningful, handcrafted art that brings beauty, thoughtfulness, and a sense of connection into everyday spaces. I believe that art should feel personal and that even the smallest piece can hold emotion, memory, or inspiration. I value authenticity, craftsmanship, and care in everything I make. Each tile is shaped with intention, guided by a respect for tradition and a love for experimentation.
Thank You for Supporting My Art
Every time someone connects with my work, it's meaningful. I'm genuinely grateful for the opportunity to share my art and to create pieces that bring joy to others. I'm always happy to chat if you have questions or ideas or would like to collaborate. I'd love to hear from you.
